Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join the Geohazards Practice in Calgary or Edmonton. You will lead geohazard assessments, guide multidisciplinary teams from site investigations through construction support, and ensure safe, sustainable mitigation solutions for critical infrastructure.

You will drive technical excellence, mentor junior staff, and contribute to proposals and client relationships to grow the Ground Engineering practice across Western Canada.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 15+ years of geohazard assessments, mitigation engineering, geotechnical design, or related disciplines.
  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) in Alberta or eligibility to obtain registration.
  • Experience leading geotechnical and geo-structural analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead geotechnical assessments for landslides, slope instability, and erosion.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams from site investigations to design and construction support.
  • Review reports, models, drawings, permits and cost estimates for quality and risk.
  • Mentor and develop the next generation of geotechnical engineers.
  • Support business growth through proposals and client relationships.
