Job summary

AAA Canada seeks a Principal Engineering Professional – Systems Installation Integrator to lead the design and integration of aircraft installations in a major aerospace program. You will review 3D layouts, define interfaces, and reconcile requirements with safety, manufacturability, and mass constraints.

The role involves coordinating across engineering, structures, interiors, and quality teams. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in aerospace/mechanical/electrical engineering and 5–15 years of

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • 5 to 15 years of relevant aerospace experience.
  • Knowledge of installation and physical integration of aircraft systems.
  • Experience with routing and installation of equipment, conduits, pipes, tubes, hoses, and supports.
  • Awareness of clearances, access, maintainability, and installation sequencing.

Responsibilities

  • Design and review 3D layouts, equipment positioning, routing, supports, assemblies, and detail drawings (excluding electrical wiring).
  • Define interfaces, clearances, accesses, and installation provisions for equipment and piping.
  • Coordinate installation definitions with functional systems engineering, structures, and other disciplines.
  • Support design reviews and compliance, verification/validation, qualification, and installation certification activities.
  • Provide technical solutions to installation issues in production, at suppliers, and during tests.

What are your contributions to the team?
Design and Integration of Installations
  • Develop and review 3D layouts, equipment positioning, routing, supports, assemblies, and detail drawings of assigned systems, excluding electrical wiring.
  • Define physical interfaces, clearances, accesses, attachment concepts, and installation provisions for equipment, conduits, pipes, tubes, hoses, and related hardware.
  • Reconcile functional requirements with safety, maintainability, manufacturability, assembly, mass, cost, and aircraft zone constraints.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
  • Coordinate installation definitions with functional systems engineering, structures, loads and constraints, interiors, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, safety, manufacturing, quality, maintainability, and mass properties.
  • Manage spatial integration and resolve interferences, access constraints, installation sequence issues, and interface discrepancies.
  • Coordinate technical definitions with partners, suppliers, and operations teams as needed.
Maturity, Compliance, and Support
  • Support design reviews as well as compliance, verification and validation, qualification, and installation certification activities.
  • Provide technical solutions to installation issues in production, at suppliers, during ground and flight tests, and in service.
  • Manage engineering changes, assess impacts, and maintain configuration and product data in the applicable PLM environment.
  • Level-appropriate individual contribution
  • Lead complex design activities affecting multiple zones or systems and define coherent technical approaches
  • Review and approve major technical solutions according to delegated authority and lead difficult investigations.
  • Mentor engineers, influence decisions without direct authority, and improve standards, methods, and digital practices.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or another relevant discipline depending on the position.
  • Generally 5 to 15 years of relevant experience in aerospace engineering.
  • Technical Knowledge
  • Installation and physical integration of aircraft systems
  • Routing and installation of equipment, conduits, pipes, tubes, hoses, and supports
  • Clearances, access, maintainability, installation sequence, environment, and zone constraints
  • Technical drawings, GD&T, manufacturing methods, certification principles, and configuration management
Tools and Methods
  • CATIA V5, ENOVIA, and the MS Office suite; knowledge of NX and Teamcenter is an asset.
  • Knowledge of PLM processes, product definition, engineering change, and configuration management corresponding to the level.
Leadership and Behavioral Skills
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Collaborative approach with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills, organizational sense, and accountability
  • Ability to coordinate priorities and provide constructive technical guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions and act as a mentor.
Languages
  • Fluency in English (mandatory).
  • French is an asset.
