Your Opportunity

As a Principal Electrical Engineering Leader in the Health Sector, a collaborative mindset is essential. You will work within our network of resources, collaborating with clients and internal teams as a thought leader, health sector champion, brand ambassador, and project delivery expert. Our leaders stay engaged in projects, contributing to client success. We operate as a principal-led practice.

Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of healthcare design and delivery, excellent listening skills, and the ability to develop lasting relationships internally and externally. You will connect Stantec’s disciplines and team members with new opportunities, pursue projects across North America, and challenge colleagues to excel. As a trusted partner, you will promote design excellence through fiscally responsible, award-winning projects focused on positive health outcomes. You will be supported by our global health sector team and have opportunities to develop integrated design proposals for world-class projects, lead and mentor others, and collaborate to deliver exceptional results.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead engineering design and delivery of major healthcare projects, typically ranging from 80,000 to 800,000 sqft.
  2. Collaborate regularly with architectural and engineering leaders across North America within an integrated design practice.
  3. Serve as a local leader to inspire teams, represent healthcare design, and reinforce Stantec’s global brand.
  4. Sustain and grow revenue in your region and across North America, attracting top-tier clients and achieving sector growth.
  5. Work with project teams to meet operational performance metrics, including financial and health outcome goals.
  6. Lead business development efforts, including strategic pursuits, proposals, and negotiations, to meet financial targets.
  7. Generate work and build long-term client relationships, delivering value for Stantec.
  8. Maintain industry relationships and visibility with clients, partners, and potential recruits.
  9. Contribute to Stantec’s thought leadership by sharing knowledge at industry events and networks.
  10. Support recruitment and retention of top talent.
  11. Mentor future leaders and receive mentorship from experienced team members.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Recent healthcare experience, with interest in specialties like acute care, outpatient, women’s health, behavioral health, cancer/proton therapy, and long-term care.
  • Knowledge of project delivery innovations such as IPD, APD, modular approaches.
  • Leadership experience on major projects, with ability to manage teams across healthcare sectors.
  • Technical expertise in Electrical Engineering for health facilities, including Power, Lighting, and Low Voltage systems.
  • Experience with pursuit strategies, including RFIs, proposals, negotiations.
  • Strong business development skills and ability to build client relationships.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and understanding of consulting challenges.
  • Excellent communication, organization, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of market assessment and business planning.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 15+ years in the AEC industry.
  • Licensed Engineer preferred.
  • Understanding of Mechanical systems is highly preferred.
  • LEED AP Credential preferred.
  • Project Management Professional certification is a plus.
  • Healthcare-specific certifications like ASHRAE HFDP are advantageous.

Additional Information
  • Salary ranges are provided for transparency, based on location and experience: Min: $128,800; Max: $193,100 in BC’s Lower Mainland.
  • Final compensation depends on individual qualifications and location. Some roles are bonus-eligible.
