We are looking for an experienced Principal Architect to join our Canadian team and play a pivotal role in this new venture. Success in this role will require adopting a consulting mindset to effectively define and articulate concepts and approaches at both strategic and tactical levels. Providing a collaboration-driven leadership to projects and teams will also be critical in achieving desired outcomes.

Responsibilities

Architecture: Analyze the current digital ecosystem and architecture, define the future state, and roadmap proposed changes on strategy and tactical levels through architectural blueprints and technical roadmaps in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Lead and support design and implementation of scalable, secure, and efficient IT solutions that meet the needs of government initiatives.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Function as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into accessible language for executives, policymakers, and department heads. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their needs, align solutions with program goals, and provide architectural guidance.

Technology Evaluation and Implementation Excellence: Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices to recommend new tools, technologies, or methodologies to enhance government systems. Lead the selection, implementation, and integration of modern technologies and systems.

Security and Compliance: Ensure all technology solutions, related processes and practices and overall cyber security posture adhere to security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Supporting pre-sales and business development: Help tailor value propositions to meet potential clients' needs and challenges in Canada, using the latest technology, software development, infrastructure (cloud) engineering, big data engineering, analytics, and AI.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 5+ years in an architect role.
  • 3+ years of consulting experience.
  • Technical skills and expertise:
    • Proven experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and designing and implementing cloud-based solutions and distributed systems.
    • Experience with enterprise-level application, infrastructure, data architecture and solutions.
    • Familiarity with common applications and mobile application development frameworks, such as .NET, Node.js, React, Angular, React Native, etc.
    • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java).
    • Ability to solve complex problems and make critical scalability, security, and performance decisions and communicate those outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Methodologies and best practices:
    • Deep understanding of software design principles, architecture patterns, and best practices.
    • Experience in agile environments, its approaches, and methodologies.
    • Strong understanding of DevSecOps approach with a focus on CI/CD practices.
  • Soft skills and leadership:
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders; capable of engaging with senior-level stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage work streams and projects whilst working in a fast-paced environment, providing decisive and clear leadership in ambiguous situations.
    • A clear problem-solver and systems thinker with a clear attention to detail.
  • Additional desirable qualifications:
    • Canadian Public Sector experience or adjacent organizations are highly desirable.
    • Experience with microservices architecture.
    • French language proficiency.
    • Architect and agile field certifications.

The base salary range for this role is between $170,000 and $210,000 CAD.
