Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Principal Software Engineer / Architect – AI to design, build, and deliver production AI solutions for complex customer environments. This highly technical, hands-on IC role involves working directly with customers, product teams, and engineers to architect solutions and contribute production code.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with principal/architect level leadership.
• Deep experience designing and delivering complex production software systems.
• Strong hands-on software engineering with recent production coding.
• Significant AI/ML or LLM experience in production environments.
• Experience architecting AI solutions integrating with enterprise infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, cloud, scalability, and reliability.
• Proven track record leading end-to-end technical initiatives or engagements.
• Ability to translate customer work into reusable, scalable product capabilities.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and guiding architecture decisions.
• Excellent communication with engineers, product teams, executives, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead highly complex technical and customer engagements from discovery through production delivery.
• Architect, build, and deploy production AI solutions within customer environments.
• Write production code regularly and review work of senior engineers.
• Provide technical direction across AI, architecture, integration, security, and deployment.
• Work with customers to understand environments, constraints, and needs.
• Translate customer learnings into scalable product capabilities with product teams.
• Identify patterns across engagements and improve the CoCounsel platform.
• Mentor engineers through challenges, architecture reviews, and leadership.
• Influence technical strategy across Forward Deployed Engineering and related teams.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve AI delivery and customer outcomes.
• Communicate complex decisions clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Represent Thomson Reuters in high-impact customer engagements.
