Job summary

Ridley College is seeking a passionate Primary Teacher to inspire students in a dynamic learning environment. Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ full-time teaching experience at the Primary or Junior Level.
  • Experience in athletics coaching or the creative Arts is an asset.
  • Independent / Boarding school experience preferred.

OVERVIEW

Ridley College has an exciting opportunity for a Primary Teacher in our Lower School commencing January 2024.

Our teachers will :
  1. Organize the classroom and learning resources to create a dynamic learning environment for students.
  2. Plan, prepare, and present lessons that motivate students, catering to the range of needs and abilities of the students.
  3. Meet requirements for the evaluations of students’ development.
  4. Provide feedback to advisors and parents on a student’s progress through regular progress reports, including daily communication when appropriate.
  5. Participate in co-curricular activities including coaching a sports team, coordinating activities/clubs, leading community service initiatives, supporting students as an Advisor, and being a member of a house duty team.
  6. Keep up to date with developments in the subject area, teaching resources, and strategies, making relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
  7. Engage, support, and collaborate with colleagues and work flexibly within the Department teams.
QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION :

  • Bachelor of Education degree (Ontario or equivalent).
  • Ontario Teachers qualifications (or equivalent) to teach at the Primary / Junior level.
  • Qualified to teach or experience teaching the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) would be an asset.
EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS :
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ full-time teaching, supply, or occasional teaching experience at the Primary or Junior Level.
  • Athletics coaching at the competitive or recreational level (e.g., rowing, basketball, rugby, hockey, or other sport) is an asset.
  • Experience in the creative Arts is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, exemplary communication skills, problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills.
  • Experience with innovative teaching and learning.
  • Independent / Boarding school experience preferred.
  • Commitment to the College’s academic and co-curricular directions and the school’s vision and mission.
