OVERVIEW:

Ridley College has an opportunity for an ECE Teacher in our Lower School covering a one year maternity leave commencing March 2025.

This role will assist the Kindergarten Teacher to implement the Kindergarten Programme within both a classroom setting and in other school contexts, providing appropriate supervision and age-appropriate learning experiences targeting individual student’s needs, stages of development and interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain healthy emotional and social learning environment for all students
  2. Maintain clean and safe environments and other related duties as assigned
  3. Supervise and assist children in bathroom routines, dressing, snack and during lunchtime activities
  4. Provide positive social and emotional experiences to strengthen prosocial skills such as sharing, problem solving, and cooperation
  5. Provide daily, appropriate supervision of children at recess and during before-school hours
  6. Ensure the learning environment is set up appropriately (e.g., display, up-keep, organization of materials)
  7. Attend and engage in staff meetings, as required, and professional development activities
  8. Actively engage in the Professional Growth and Development Programme model (Pro Gro) using Folio to advance Ridley College’s vision and mission, and to ensure best practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  1. Two-year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma
  2. Minimum 2 years’ experience working in an Early Learning setting
  3. Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators and adherence to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice (CECE) College of Early Childhood Educators
  4. Successful completion OR commitment to complete the International Baccalaureate PYP course, Making the PYP Happen in the Classroom (Category 1)

EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Experience teaching in Primary or Junior grades with planning and implementing age-appropriate programs for children between the ages of four and 12 years
  2. Demonstrates creativity, a passion for teaching and can foster unique learning experiences for students
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills, exemplary communication skills, problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills
  4. Experience with innovative teaching and learning
  5. Commitment to the College’s academic and co-curricular directions and the school’s vision and mission
  6. Be enthusiastic, energetic, and able to foster unique learning experiences for students
  7. Able to thrive in a collaborative, flexible and supportive team environment
  8. Independent school experience, and coaching/extracurricular experience are all assets
