Full-Time Primary Teacher For The 2025-2026

Conklin Community School

Northland School Division is seeking a Primary Teacher at Conklin Community School for the 2025-2026 school year. The start date of this position will be August 25th, 2025. The kindergarten to grade 9 school is located in the hamlet of Conklin. Conklin is the most southern community in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. It is a quiet, rural community located approximately 155 kilometres southeast of Fort McMurray on scenic Christina Lake and can be accessed from Alberta Highways 63 and 881. Major Responsibilities include:

  • Following the prescribed program of studies for each subject taught.
  • Planning and executing daily lessons based on short, medium, and long-range planning.
  • Providing feedback to students and parents in a regular, timely manner.
  • Championing Cree language/culture revitalization and curriculum infusion.
  • Supporting school-parent-community engagement.
  • Possessing strong interpersonal skills and committing to collaborative decision-making.
  • Promoting differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Qualifications and Requirements include:

  • Holding or qualifying for Alberta teaching certification and a Teaching Quality Standard certificate.
  • Possessing a Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree.
  • Having successful teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.

If the successful applicant receives a positive evaluation, there may be an opportunity to obtain a continuous contract.
