Purpose of Job

Performs emergency and non-emergency duties under the direction of Fire Officers and the on-duty Nurse Practitioner as part of an assigned fire and rescue team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Complete daily tasks and assignments under the direction of fire officers.
  2. Maintain a respectful work environment by demonstrating positive workplace behavior.
  3. Comply with company policies regarding conduct, uniform, dress, and appearance.
  4. Attend required meetings, including daily start-of-shift meetings.
  5. Participate in fire and rescue training and continuing medical education provided by International SOS.
  6. Assist in medical training for the fire and rescue team and mentor new hires during their induction.
  7. Perform inspections and maintenance of fire, rescue, and EMS apparatus and equipment.
  8. Maintain cleanliness of all apparatus, equipment, and facilities.
  9. Stay updated with site-specific fire and rescue guidelines, medical protocols, and rescue plans.
  10. Complete all required training courses and continuing education modules.
  11. Perform drug and alcohol testing as trained.
  12. Assist medical clinic staff during high patient intake times.
  13. Perform administrative duties as requested.
  14. Represent International SOS professionally when interacting with clients and contractors.
  15. Operate within the scope of practice and regulatory standards.
  16. Carry out tasks assigned by the officer-in-charge, ensuring safety and compliance.
  17. Identify and report hazards at emergency scenes.
  18. Participate in post-incident analysis and investigations as needed.
About You

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Experience as a Primary Care Paramedic/Firefighter.
  • Fire Certifications such as NFPA 1001 Level 1 and 2, NFPA 1002 Level 1 and 2, NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue or equivalent, NFPA 1006 Confined Space or equivalent, NFPA 472 Hazmat.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of medical and operational guidelines, protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and hold others accountable.
Work Environment and Schedule

• Work is based at client sites with accommodations and meals provided.

• Schedule varies: 2 weeks on/2 weeks off or 3 weeks on/3 weeks off.

• On-call and extended hours may be required based on operational needs.
