DUTIES AND TASKS

• Maintain skills per Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP).
• Operate vehicles safely following guidelines and regulations.
• Maintain vehicle readiness.
• Work in hazardous environments to stabilize patients.
• Coordinate with outside agencies.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Be punctual and professional.
• Follow chain of command.

Communication

• Complete patient care reports (ePCRs).
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Refer media requests appropriately.
• Report incidents in writing.

Education

• Meet continuing education requirements of Alberta College of Paramedics.
• Follow operational and medical control guidelines.
• Participate in quality assurance programs.
• Plan for professional growth.

Physical Ability

• Be in good health with no impairments.
• Lift and move heavy patients.
• Extricate patients from hazards.
• Report injuries affecting duties.

Public Relations

• Participate in community education programs.
• Maintain professional appearance and hygiene.

Safety Hazards

• Exposure to violence, traffic, diseases, weather hazards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Alberta Operators License class 1, 2, or 4.
• Current registration with Alberta College of Paramedics.
• Completion of Alberta Health Services MCPs.

License/Certification

• CPR certification.
• FARE Certificate.
