Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams across primary and specialty care. This on-site role involves preparing patients for examinations, drawing blood, handling clerical tasks, and assisting physicians according to established policies.

The position is full-time (1.0 FTE), with a 40-hour work week and a pay range of $19.32–$24.13 per hour. Certification and structured training are required, with benefits listed in the policy and opportunities to grow within

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by NHA, CAHEA, ABHES or other recognized accrediting body.
• Must maintain current certification from AAMA, NCCT, AMCA, NAHP, NCMA or AMT, or equivalent credential.
• AHA BLS required. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, basic computer/data entry skills, and medical record management.
• Excellent problem solving skills; knowledge of insurance specifications and medical terminology; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking) blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
• Cleans exam rooms, obtains lab specimens; assists physicians and staff as needed; selects equipment for collection; verifies specimen orders.
• Prepares exam rooms for patient encounters and assists LIP as requested; maintains supplies and forms; manages testing documentation.
• Performs clerical duties: patient registration, answering phones, scheduling appointments, initiating and filing medical records; timely distribution of reports.
• Performs electrocardiograms and other tests following policies; verifies patient information and history.
• Documents medical information in electronic medical records; keeps rooms stocked and organized; files paperwork accordingly.
• Coordinates with front office and ancillary staff to support patient service; assists in checkout, referrals, discharge paperwork and education.
• Cross-trained to perform Patient Reception Rep duties when needed.
• NJPMP monitoring in NJ; uploads notarized access form and certification; performs monitor duties under LIP guidance.
• Performs injections (subcutaneous or intramuscular) as required; follows Capital Health policies.
• May be assigned to other Capital Health Medical Group practices as needed.
