Job summary

ROCK (Reach Out Centre for Kids) in Halton region seeks a Prevention Services Coordinator to plan and deliver targeted prevention groups for children, youth (Birth to 18) and families across ROCK hubs and community sites.

The role reports to the Manager of Community and Youth Development and offers opportunities to develop innovative programming within a supportive, inclusive, hybrid work environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Care or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of community-based experience with children, youth and families.
  • Familiarity with client-data management and evaluation tools; CPR/First Aid and UMAB certification preferred.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check; flexible hours may be needed (evenings/weekends).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver targeted prevention groups and services at ROCK hubs.
  • Collaborate with Manager of Community and Youth Development to support program delivery.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple ROCK sites and community partners.
  • Maintain client data securely and ensure program quality.

You are passionate about supporting children, youth, and families through meaningful and impactful targeted prevention programs. With a background in Child and Youth Care or an equivalent field, you bring at least one year of experience in a community-based environment, ideally facilitating groups, workshops, or educational services. You excel in planning and organizing activities, have strong communication skills, and thrive in collaborative environments.

You are comfortable working independently and as part of a team, leveraging your organizational and multitasking abilities to balance multiple priorities effectively. Your technical proficiency, including familiarity with virtual platforms and client-data management tools, supports your ability to deliver high-quality services. Your desire to work in a supportive and diverse community, coupled with your commitment to high-quality care, ensures that you will excel as a ROCK Prevention Services Coordinator.

The ROLE

As part of the Targeted Prevention Services team, you will report to the Manager of Community and Youth Development and play a vital role in planning and delivering targeted prevention groups and services. Your work will directly impact the lives of children, youth (Birth to 18 years), and families across Halton. This position offers opportunities to develop innovative programming and facilitate group offerings at various ROCK hubs, main sites, and community locations.

This is an existing vacancy and this is a contract position with an end date of May 31, 2027.

Who we’re looking for:
  • Degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Care or equivalent
  • Lived experience in the BIPOC community.
  • A minimum 1 year of experience working in a community-based environment. Preferably, providing groups/workshops/education to children, youth and/or families
  • Demonstrated experience in targeted prevention implementation and development
  • Familiarity with client-data management, screening and evaluation tools
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid Certificate and UMAB Certification
  • A current Criminal Reference Check with vulnerable sector search
  • An ability to work flexible hours according to program need (this may include evenings or weekend work)
  • Proficient in the use of technology and working from a virtual environment as required of the position. MAC OS operating systems experience preferred.
