CMHA Peel Dufferin is seeking a Team Lead for the Outreach Services Team, based on-site in Brampton. The role combines frontline duties with leadership, guiding the Outreach team and supporting the Program Manager.

We aim to empower staff, support community members facing homelessness and mental health challenges, and maintain high-quality care. This full-time position requires a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of homelessness supports and risk factors.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Team Lead for the Outreach Services Team!

The Team Lead - Outreach role includes both front line and leadership duties. The position will provide leadership support to front line staff of the Outreach team and support the Program Manager in providing clinical and operational support during their shift.

Status: Full-time permanent, 12-hour rotational shifts including days, overnights, weekends and public holidays will be required. Note, this posting is for an active vacancy.

Base Salary: Outreach Worker salary plus $5000 annually

Location: 60 West Drive, Brampton. Due to the nature of the program, this role is on-site and community based.

What you will do
  • Assisting with the day-to-day clinical operations on the team during their 12-hour rotational shift
  • Participate in van shifts and Street Helpline as part of the scheduled rotation
  • Lead daily team huddles
  • Working with marginalized populations, including those experiencing homelessness, mental health concerns and addictions
  • Support staff in prioritizing client issues and tasks, as needed
  • Support the Manager in team meetings including planning, chairing, and following up with actions as appropriate
  • Support the Manager in case conferences, including planning, chairing, and following up with actions as necessary
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage during shifts
  • Escalate staff and clinical issues to the Manager, as appropriate
  • Aid leadership in program development
  • Ensure service data is being collected and recorded regularly; daily reports done in a timely manner
  • Participate in agency quality improvement activities, e.g. accreditation projects, Information Systems Support and Privacy and Security committees, special events, etc.

What you need to join our team
  • Post-secondary degree in Social Services, Social Work, BSc. Nursing etc.
  • Minimum one year of supervision or leadership experience in a clinical or community setting.
  • Knowledge and principles of supporting homelessness and those at risk of homelessness.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a multidisciplinary team and evidence of an understanding of the importance of partnerships and collaboration.
  • Requires working knowledge and/or an understanding of various disciplines; including but not exclusive of mental health, substance abuse, harm reduction, new comer challenges and sensitivity to the settlement issues of new comers as well as the issues relating to homelessness and marginalized populations.
  • Proven cultural competence and ability to effectively work with diversity.
  • Ability to work 12 hours shifts including days, overnights, weekends and public holidays on a scheduled rotation.
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of CRMS or similar client record databases.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence.
  • Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework.
  • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.
  • Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to an insured automobile in good repair.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report.
