Job Overview

Jardeg is recruiting a Pressure Safety Valve Technician to join the SUNCOR Firebag maintenance team near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a permanent position starting around May 22nd, 2025, with a 14 days on, 14 days off day shift schedule.

Camp accommodations and charter flights from Calgary or Edmonton are provided. The successful candidate must be willing to undergo training with current onsite technicians until obtaining the PRD technician certification, which may take 6-12 months.

Role Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, and repair PSVs, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Work closely with maintenance, operations, and reliability teams.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain equipment integrity.
Qualifications
  • Journeyperson certification in a relevant trade (Instrumentation Technician, Pipefitter, Boilermaker, or Millwright).
  • 1-3 years of experience working independently with valve operations.
  • Experience in the oil sands industry.
  • Certifications: CSO (Energy Safety Canada), ESC Fall Protection, Confined Space, Overhead Crane, Basic Rigging, WHMIS 2015, Respiratory Protective Equipment training, and a valid driver’s license with a clean 3-year abstract.
  • Satisfactory completion of a pre-access drug and alcohol test.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to climb and work at heights.
  • Proficiency in English for radio communication.
