Elimin8Hate (E8) is the advocacy arm of the Vancouver Asian Film Festival. We work to interrupt, dismantle and eliminate anti-Asian racism at the individual, institutional and systemic level by harnessing the power of arts, film and media. We provide anti-Asian racism learning opportunities, and create safe, inclusive ways for impacted community members and allies to participate in initiatives aimed at supporting systemic change for an equitable society.Educate. TheVancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF)is the longest running Asian Film Festival in Canada and will be celebrating 29 years in 2025. VAFF’score belief is that the most powerful tool to counteract racist beliefs and encourage appreciation and social cohesion of diverse cultures is through the act of sharing of stories. Job Type: Short-Term Contract

Location: In-Person (Community-Based)

Timeline: Mid-April to Mid-June 2025

Compensation: $1,250 CAD (for completing three outreach sessions)

Job Overview

We are seeking four (4) experienced facilitators to deliver in-person anti-hate awareness presentations at community centers, faith centers, and neighborhood houses. Each facilitator will work with one of the following language groups: Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi, or English. The ideal candidates must be fluent in their respective language(s) and have a strong background in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Facilitators will also be responsible for independently conducting outreach, securing presentation appointments, and coordinating with hosting locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver three (3) in-person anti-hate awareness presentations to community organizations in the designated language between mid-May and mid-June 2025.
  • Independently conduct outreach from mid-April to secure presentation appointments and liaise with hosting locations.
  • Ensure presentations are engaging, accessible, and culturally relevant.
  • Represent the initiative professionally and respond to audience questions with sensitivity.
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics with the project team.
  • Provide your own equipment for the presentation (e.g., laptop, projector, etc.) or confirm with the hosting location that the necessary equipment will be available.
  • Presentations may be filmed for social media and advocacy purposes. Facilitators should be aware that their presentation may be repurposed for public awareness campaigns.
  • Each session will last approximately 1 hour.
  • Presentations will be held at community centers, faith centers, and neighborhood houses.
  • Facilitators are responsible for securing their own presentation locations.
  • Hours are flexible, with the facilitators determining their own schedule to complete the required three presentations.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in the designated language (Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi, or English).
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation, community outreach, and public speaking.
  • Strong background in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
  • Experience working with diverse communities and handling sensitive topics.
  • Proven ability to independently conduct outreach and coordinate event logistics.
  • Ability to provide own presentation equipment or coordinate with hosting locations to ensure equipment is available.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated with strong communication skills.
  • Comfortable with the possibility that presentations may be filmed for use in social media and advocacy work.
  • Ability to independently commute to the locations for the presentations

Compensation & Timeline

  • Payment: $1,250 CAD (for completing three outreach sessions).
  • Work period: Mid-April to Mid-June 2025.
  • Flexible hours for facilitators to schedule presentations.
