Job summary

Stoakley-Stewart Consultants Ltd. is seeking a Print Prepress Operator to join the Toronto manufacturing production team.

You will prepare customer artwork and production files to meet exact specifications, perform preflight and corrections, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery with high quality. The role requires 2–5+ years in prepress/print production, strong Adobe CC skills, and experience with colour management, CMYK/Pantone, and various prepress workflows.

Qualifications

  • 2-5+ years of experience in a prepress or print production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial printing processes and print production requirements.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
  • Experience with PDF preflight, file preparation, colour separation, trapping, imposition, and proofing.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer-supplied artwork and production files for accuracy, completeness, and printability.
  • Prepare and preflight files for production, identifying and resolving potential technical issues.
  • Perform file corrections, imposition, trapping, bleeds, colour separations, and other prepress functions.
  • Ensure artwork complies with established print specifications and customer requirements.
  • Prepare files for a variety of printing processes and substrates.
  • Manage colour conversions and ensure accurate CMYK, spot colour, and Pantone specifications.
  • Produce proofs and review files for accuracy prior to releasing them to production.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Estimating, Graphic Design, Production, and Press Operators to resolve file-related issues.
  • Communicate with customers when clarification or revised artwork is required.
  • Maintain accurate job documentation and ensure files are properly archived and organized.
  • Troubleshoot prepress and production issues and recommend solutions.
  • Assist with maintaining prepress standards, workflows, and quality-control procedures.
  • Meet production schedules and prioritize multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Follow all company quality, safety, and production procedures.

Job description

Seeking a Print Prepress Operator to join the production team of a leading print manufacturing company in Toronto. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing customer artwork and production files for press, ensuring files meet technical specifications and are produced accurately, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Compensation
  • $60,000 to $70,000*

  • Experience working with Esko, Kodak Prinergy, Heidelberg Prinect, or similar prepress workflow systems is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of CMYK, RGB, Pantone/spot colours, ICC profiles, resolution, bleeds, crop marks, and print specifications.
  • Knowledge of offset, digital, wide format or other print processes is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
