The role requires prior prep cook experience, a recognized cooking certificate, and a valid Food Handler certificate. A positive, team-focused attitude and the ability to work under pressure are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous prep cook experience required.
• Certificate from a recognized cooking school.
• Valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.
• Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.
• Able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
• Team player with effective communication.
• Patient with ability to stay positive under pressure.
• Culinary school training will be an asset.
• Physical ability to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Obtain daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef.
• Label and stock all ingredients on shelves for organization.
• Measure ingredients and seasonings for cooking.
• Prepare ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
• Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces and parboiling.
• Prepare simple dishes like salads and entrees.
• Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces.
• Ensure all food and items are stored properly and comply with guidelines.
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
