Job summary

TBC Fabrication in Quebec is seeking a Building Mechanical Engineer to design, optimize, and supervise mechanical systems integrated into prefabricated modules, reporting to the engineering director.

You will design, size, and optimize systems, perform load calculations, and ensure compliance with NBC/CSA/ASHRAE. You will collaborate with structural and electrical teams, produce plans with the modelling team, and support production and R&D to improve manufacturing practices.

Qualifications

• University degree in engineering specializing in building mechanical systems.
• Member of the OIQ.
• Minimum 3 years of experience designing building mechanical systems, ideally in consulting engineering or prefabrication.
• Good knowledge of NBC, CSA, ASHRAE and related standards.
• Proficiency in design and simulation software: AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks is an asset.
• Thoroughness, attention to detail, teamwork, and strong organizational skills.
• Analytical skills to diagnose and solve complex technical problems.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize and supervise mechanical systems integrated into prefabricated modules.
• Design and size mechanical systems for each project with module integration in mind.
• Optimize solutions for energy efficiency and sustainability in factory prefabrication.
• Perform required load calculations.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure integration with structural and electrical disciplines.
• Produce and validate plans, drawings, and specifications with the modelling team.
• Support production by answering technical questions and contributing to continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with R&D to innovate and optimize design and manufacturing practices.
