Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machines to cut, grind, or shape parts.
• Interpret blueprints and written instructions for precise production.
• Support Lean initiatives and 5S practices for organized, safe workspace.
• Use machine shop theory, math, and material properties to operate equipment.
• Perform pre-use inspections and address safety issues before operation.
• Compute dimensions and tolerances; set machine speeds/feeds for safe machining.
• Use precision gauges to verify part and tooling accuracy.
• Provide guidance and training to apprentices and junior machinists.
