Job summary

YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking full-time permanent and substitute Pre-K Early Childhood Educators (Levels 1-4), including Admins and Inclusion Workers, for the Bonavista Peninsula. The role focuses on creating a safe, nurturing environment following the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum and provincial licensing guidelines.

Applicants should hold an ECE credential (Certificate/Diploma/Degree) and a Pre-K classification with AECENL; First Aid/CPR Level C and a background check are

Qualifications

• ECE qualifications required: Certificate, Diploma or Degree.
• AECENL Pre-K certification is required.
• Experience in early learning or equivalent child care experience.
• Current Standard or Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C.
• ASL is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Create a stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment for Pre-K children.
• Comply with government regulations and YMCA policies and procedures.
• Provide support to families and children in care.
• Collaborate with team to deliver quality early childhood education.
• Be capable of assisting with various classroom duties and supervision.

YMCA Pre-Kindergarten programs support families and foster the healthy growth and development of children. Our programs help children to build self-confidence, learn healthy behaviors, and develop strong values. Based on the YMCA Playing to Learn emergent curriculum our all-day child care program is licenced by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We are seeking full time Early Childhood Educators to join our Child Care team. The goal is to challenge and motivate children by creating a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment. Support is provided to families while diligently adhering to government regulations and YMCA policies, procedures, and standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Early Childhood Education Certificate, Diploma or Degree
• AECENL Certification with Pre-K Classification
• Experience working in early learning or equivalent experience providing child care
• Current Standard or Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C
• American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset
• Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Checks are reviewed on an individual basis
• Must be able to lift and move children, materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds) on a consistent basis. As well, physical effort, strength and endurance is required in the supervision and care of children, e.g., maintaining balance, kneeling and bending, pushing and pulling strollers and carts, light housekeeping duties and moving quickly to assist children in emergency situations
