The YMCA NL operates licensed pre-kindergarten child care and emphasizes inclusive environments, safety and development. Candidates must hold ECE credentials, be prepared for background checks, and work within a licensed program under YMCA policies.

Qualifications

• ECE certificate/degree required or equivalent
• AECENL certification with Pre-K classification
• Minimum 2 years experience as an Administrator
• Experience in early learning or providing child care
• Current Standard or Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C
• ASL considered an asset
• Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Checks reviewed individually
• Must be able to lift/move children and materials up to 50 pounds; physical endurance required

JOIN THE TEAM:

YMCA Pre-Kindergarten programs support families and foster the healthy growth and development of children. Our programs help children to build self-confidence, learn healthy behaviors, and develop strong values. Based on the YMCA Playing to Learn emergent curriculum our all-day child care program is licenced by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We are seeking full time Early Childhood Educators to join our Child Care team. The goal is to challenge and motivate children by creating a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment. Support is provided to families while diligently adhering to government regulations and YMCA policies, procedures, and standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Early Childhood Education Certificate, Diploma or Degree
• AECENL Certification with Pre-K Classification
• 2 years minimum work experience as an Administrator
• Experience working in early learning or equivalent experience providing child care
• Current Standard or Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C
• American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset
• Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Checks are reviewed on an individual basis
• Must be able to lift and move children, materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds) on a consistent basis. As well, physical effort, strength and endurance is required in the supervision and care of children, e.g., maintaining balance, kneeling and bending, pushing and pulling strollers and carts, light housekeeping duties and moving quickly to assist children in emergency situations
