Job summary

YMCA of Northern Alberta in Fort McMurray is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to provide high quality care in YMCA Child Care programs by implementing and teaching developmentally appropriate activities. Qualifications

• Experience working with children.
• Level 1, 2 or 3 Child Care Certification (or in progress).
• Standard or Child Care First Aid & CPR – C.
• Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Represent YMCA’s values and mission; comply with policies, procedures and licensing regulations.
• Work with a team to implement Child Care curriculum (Playing to Learn, FLIGHT, A Place to Connect).
• Guide and redirect children using positive guidance techniques.
• Ensure children are accounted for at all times.
• Treat all families respectfully and consider culture and background.
• Build relationships with families and communicate daily in writing and verbally.
• Commit to Health and Safety and Child Protection policies and procedures.
• Attend required professional development and training opportunities.
• Provide a safe and clean environment following procedures.
• Complete administrative tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Consistently represent YMCA’s values and mission, comply with all YMCA Policies, procedures and Provincial Licensing regulations
• Work and communicate with a team to implement Child Care curriculum which may include Playing to Learn, FLIGHT and A Place to Connect.
• Guide and redirect children in situations when conflicts ariseusing a variety of positive child guidance techniques
• Ensure children are accounted for at all times
• Treat all families respectfully, bearing in mind their values, culture and background
• Build relationships with families and communicate, verbally and in writing on a daily basis
• Commitment to Health and Safety and Child Protection Policies and Procedures
• Attend all required professional development and training opportunities
• Consistently provide a safe and clean environment following all cleaning procedures
• Completed required administrative tasks
• Performs other duties as assigned
