Job summary

Pratt & Whitney Canada in Mississauga is seeking a skilled Tooling Technician to support our production and maintenance teams. You will apply EHS policies, prepare and maintain pre-dress kits, manage tool calibration, and ensure tools are ready for upcoming engine builds.

Working onsite, you will collaborate with Tool Controller, Dimensional Inspection, and production leads to sustain 100% tool availability, accurate ITDM records, and continuous improvements while delivering high quality results

Qualifications

  • In depth understanding of tool drawings and their relation to the assembly process.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with applicable experience.
  • Knowledge of assembly and production functions and processes.
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Apply EHS policy to all processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Prepare pre-dress kits and maintain equipment.
  • Issue a damage report and create eRFTs for new tools when needed / requested.
  • Manage tool calibration requirements including monitoring tool usage and calibration schedule requirements.
  • Register Tool numbers in ITDM data base, deliver tools to shipping, change status, close the demand after successful repair, and enter location in ITDM.
  • Work with Leads weekly revision list.
  • Ensure all tools are complete and in serviceable condition prior to releasing them to the floor.
  • Assist Tool Controller and leader as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and provide recommendations to improve workflow and reduce costs.

Job Description
  • Aware of and applies EHS policy to all processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Prepares pre-dress kits.
  • Maintains pre-dress equipment and performs PM on all pre-dress equipment.
  • Issue a damage report and create eRFTs for new tools when needed / requested.
  • Manage tool calibration requirements including monitoring tool usage and calibration schedule requirements.
  • Runs an ‘Inspection Due’ report in ITDM daily, weekly, and biweekly. Set Inspection frequency in ITDM.
  • Fills out Tooling Validation Tags, and release tools for use.
  • Work with Leads weekly revision list.
  • Register Tool numbers in ITDM data base, deliver tools to shipping, change status, close the demand after successful repair, and enter location in ITDM.
  • Receive inspected / calibrated tools and verify the inspection report.
  • Ensure all tools are complete and in serviceable condition prior to releasing them to the floor.
  • Ensure accuracy of tooling system (ITDM) for location and status of tools.
  • Provide administration support for Solex (Storage warehouse) movement.
  • Work closely with Tool Coordinator, Tool Services, Dimensional Inspection, to ensure 100% availability/ serviceability of all PWC Tools.
  • Ensure tools are available for upcoming engine builds and respond to tooling ANDONs.
  • Ensure all tools and tool kits are FOD free.
  • Assist supervisors/Leads to develop tool accountability/control process.
  • Assist Tool Controller and leader as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and provide recommendations to improve workflow and reduce costs.
  • Drive to meet customer commitments while maintaining highest quality work.
  • Work closely with assemblers by providing tools, when necessary, from Production and dimensional Inspection or other Plants.
  • Work with Tool Controller to fix broken tools.
  • Manage towers (foaming, labeling tools, organization).
  • Work on the Test Cells and Shop floor on different shifts as business required.
  • Perform other related duties as required and support other aspects as required (pre-dress).

Remote

Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.
