Job summary

St. Albert Public Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant 2 (EA2) for a part-time, temporary assignment at Preschool. The position offers 22 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday, with an hourly rate of $26.89 under CUPE.

Qualifications

• Formal post-secondary training is preferred.
• Experience supporting the classroom teacher with programming modifications.
• Experience delivering interventions and strategies as laid out by the classroom teacher and other team members.
• Use a total communication approach with students including oral, sign, cued speech and visual supports.
• Knowledgeable in strategies that enhance classroom communication during field trips and unstructured parts of the day.
• Comfortable using AAC systems and assistive technologies in the classroom.
• Experience with students with complex medical and cognitive disorders.
• Experience providing social, emotional, and behavioral supports.
• Current CPR is an asset.
• Experience with diverse learners including Autism.

St. Albert Public Schools is currently recruiting a Part Time, Temporary, Educational Assistant 2 (EA2) for a work assignment at Preschool.

Hours of Work : 22.0hrs. /week; 5.5 hrs. /day; Tuesday-Friday; Part Time, Temporary

Hourly Rate: $26.89 per hour, as per the CUPE Collective Agreement

End of Assignment: June 29, 2027

Specific Needs/Requirements for this position:

• Formal Post-Secondary training is preferred
• Experience in supporting the classroom teacher with programming modifications or adaptations as needed
• Experience delivering interventions and strategies as laid out by the classroom teacher and other multi-disciplinary team members
• Use a total communication approach with students including oral communication, sign language, cued speech and visual supports as needed
• Knowledgeable in using strategies that enhance communication in a classroom setting, field trips and unstructured parts of the school day
• Comfortable and experienced in using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) systems
• Experience in working with assistive technologies in the classroom
• Previous experience working with students with complex medical and cognitive disorders
• Experience with providing social, emotional, and behavioral supports
• Current CPR an asset
• Experience working with students with various diverse, learning and behavioral needs including Autism.
