Job summary

SLR Consulting (Americas) is seeking a Team Leader – Ecology & Biodiversity for the Prairies Region to lead and develop our ecology team in Alberta.

You will oversee resourcing, project delivery, budgeting, and client relationships, while building capabilities and helping the Practice grow.

This role values leadership, technical excellence, compliance with Fisheries Act and other regulations, and a collaborative, safety‑conscious culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Registration or eligibility as a Professional Biologist (P. Biol.) with Alberta Society of Professional Biologists.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and performance management capabilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication, with collaboration across clients, regulators, and Indigenous communities.

Responsibilities

• Lead ecology team across the Prairies region and manage staffing.
• Oversee project delivery, budgeting, scheduling, resourcing, and quality.
• Build and maintain client relationships and contribute to proposals and business development.
• Develop staff through coaching and formal training plans.
• Support recruitment and onboarding with clarity on processes and standards.
• Ensure compliance with provincial and federal environmental regulations.
