Job summary

Gowling WLG is seeking a Practice Manager to support the Firm’s practice groups by coordinating business-planning activities, managing operations, and producing performance reporting. The role will report to the Senior Practice Director and collaborate with Directors, Chairs and Business Services leaders to translate priorities into action.

This position can be based out of Vancouver or Calgary and entails coordinating cross-functional initiatives, budgeting support, and change-management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
• 5–7 years in practice management or professional services.
• Experience supporting senior stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong financial reporting and performance metrics experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day operational activities of assigned practice groups.
• Develop and maintain practice-management tools, dashboards, trackers and reporting processes.
• Compile, validate and analyze financial and operational information, including production, billings, collections, realization, utilization, profitability, work allocation, and matter and client performance.
• Prepare regular reporting packages and supporting materials for Practice Directors and leadership; identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Assist with workforce planning and onboarding of lawyers and legal professionals; coordinate knowledge-transfer initiatives.
