Job summary

Valard Construction is hiring Journeyperson Powerline Technicians for unionized projects in the Ottawa, ON area. You will build and maintain overhead and underground distribution systems, perform energized switching, and mentor apprentices while upholding strict HSE standards.

Candidates must be a certified Journeyperson (434A or Red Seal) with utility construction experience and a valid driver’s license. Wages range hourly based on experience, with benefits via CUSW and a unionized worksite.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Powerline Technician (434A or Red Seal) is required.
• Experience in utility construction and energized work is essential.
• Ability to read construction prints and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain poles, towers, and guy wires for distribution systems.
• Install overhead/underground lines, insulators, and transformers.
• Perform conductor stringing, sagging, clipping, and dead-ending.
• Handle live line work procedures and mentoring.
• Lead safety plans and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Document safety forms, inspections, and daily reports.
