Job Summary:

The Power Systems Protection and Control Technician will perform wiring, programming, troubleshooting of protection and control systems, as well as preparing construction/electrical drawings. The individual should demonstrate working knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution and Utility in the Province of Ontario. Will be required to work in the field and office on various medium and high voltage projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing construction/electrical drawings.
  • Wiring, programming, troubleshooting protection and control systems.
  • Assisting with field construction, testing, and maintenance.
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Performing all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.
  • Adhering to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical engineering/technology graduate from a recognized college/university.
  • Strong knowledge of Protection and Control in a utility environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Must be willing to travel at short notice and work as a team member on projects.
