Job summary

IEM Canada in Surrey, BC is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our Field Service team. You will install, commission, maintain, modify and troubleshoot electrical distribution and power quality equipment at customer sites, with remote support as needed.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, 2+ years field service experience, ability to travel domestically and internationally, strong communication and problem‑solving skills, and the capacity to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with power generation experience.
• 2+ years in field services for complex electrical systems.
• Experience servicing, maintaining, commissioning, and repairing power equipment.
• Experience with generator control system startups and multi-function protection relays is a plus.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally with a valid driver's license.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to work with customers and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning of power products and control systems, including generators and SCADA.
• Performing preventive maintenance, field installations and modifications.
• Technical product support and troubleshooting.
• Coordination with project engineers/managers to replace parts.
• Engineering site surveys to determine scope of field work.
• Programming and service on complex automation and protective relaying systems.
• Travel to customer sites and support post-site workload prioritization.
