Job summary

Toronto Hydro seeks a Professional Engineer to oversee planning and delivery of high-voltage substations and capacity investments. You will manage strategic portfolios, coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, and ensure safe, reliable grid upgrades.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, risk management, and alignment with corporate priorities, with a hybrid work setup and Ontario-based responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Ontario-registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
• 5+ years of power system engineering experience
• HV substation experience and project delivery preferred
• Valid driver’s license (G) and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering, technical or business reports; analyze and plan for station and distribution system performance improvements.
• Lead strategic investment planning and portfolio reporting for designated investment portfolios.
• Serve as technical knowledge repository and risk monitor for designated stations and portfolios; prioritize investments.
• Develop scopes and work packages aligned with customer needs and investment plans; collaborate with execution teams.
• Conduct site visits and participate in site meetings to resolve challenges in implementing investment programs.
• Ensure timely, technically accurate and cost-effective application of engineering practices.
• Compare alternatives based on cost/benefit, safety and engineering principles; recommend optimal solutions.
• Review supplier proposals for technical merit and compliance; evaluate new technologies.
