In this role, you will perform advanced power system modeling, simulations, and transmission planning studies to support a reliable, secure, and resilient energy infrastructure. You will contribute to critical projects involving renewable energy integration, energy storage, generator interconnections, and grid reliability. Working with industry experts and energy sector clients, you will apply your technical expertise to solve complex engineering challenges. You will also help ensure compliance with industry standards while delivering high-quality technical studies and reports. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the energy transition through advanced engineering, collaboration, and innovation.

Accountabilities
  • Perform comprehensive power system impact studies, including steady-state analysis, load flow, short-circuit analysis, and dynamic stability assessments.
  • Conduct technical analyses supporting NERC compliance requirements, including TPL-001-4 Annual Planning Assessments.
  • Execute generator interconnection studies, including Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) assessments when required.
  • Evaluate renewable energy and energy storage projects connecting to transmission networks, ensuring compliance with Voltage Ride-Through (VRT) requirements.
  • Participate in ERCOT working group meetings and support transmission planning case development on behalf of assigned clients.
  • Develop, maintain, process, and validate technical models and datasets required for power system studies.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports presenting study methodologies, findings, recommendations, and engineering conclusions.
  • Manage assigned projects from planning through completion, ensuring deadlines, quality standards, and budget objectives are consistently achieved.
  • Identify technical training and professional development needs and communicate them to engineering management.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and support successful project delivery.
  • Explore and responsibly leverage AI and automation tools to improve engineering workflows, productivity, and technical quality.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a specialization or concentration in power systems.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience as a power systems engineer.
  • Practical experience conducting power system impact studies, including dynamic stability, load flow, steady-state, and short-circuit analyses.
  • Experience using industry-standard power systems software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
  • Programming or automation experience using Python is preferred.
  • Understanding of transmission planning, generator interconnection processes, renewable energy integration, and applicable grid reliability standards.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical data, develop engineering models, and communicate findings through comprehensive technical reports.
  • Familiarity with NERC compliance requirements and transmission planning standards is an advantage.
  • Interest in using AI and automation tools responsibly to enhance engineering quality, productivity, and innovation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when explaining complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset and proven ability to establish productive relationships with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to respond effectively to changing project requirements.
  • High standards of technical accuracy, attention to detail, and ownership of deliverables.
