Job summary

Shermco Canada is seeking an Electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Regina or Saskatoon team. This in-office/field-supported role develops power-system expertise under licensed engineers, with travel to customer sites as needed.

You will engage in design, testing, commissioning, and field services for industrial and utility projects, gaining hands-on experience while pursuing professional registration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Registered as an Engineer-in-Training or eligible to register in Saskatchewan.
• 4–6 years of experience in power systems, distribution, substations, protection, or field engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs for industrial facilities, substations, and power systems.
• Prepare and review single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
• Specify equipment including switchgear, transformers, breakers, and MCCs.
• Conduct load, voltage drop, grounding, and sizing calculations.
• Support power-system studies: short-circuit, load-flow, protection coordination, arc-flash.
• Apply Canadian Electrical Code, CSA, IEEE standards, and client requirements.
• Coordinate work with clients, PMs, field teams, and vendors.
• Travel up to 10% and work at customer sites as needed.
