Job summary

Schneider Electric in Canada seeks an electrical engineer to execute power system network analysis and design projects under supervision of a senior engineer.

You will evaluate results, prepare reports, assist in sustainability initiatives such as microgrids, travel to client sites across Canada, and provide cost estimates.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Electrical Engineering Program.
  • Experience in power engineering studies or electrical design for commercial or industrial projects is an asset.
  • Proficiency with power system analysis software (ETAP preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform power system engineering analysis of industrial and commercial electric power systems, including coordination of protection, short-circuit calculation, arc-flash, power flow, power quality, site audits and design improvements.
  • Evaluate analysis results and prepare written reports with findings, recommendations and mitigation solutions.
  • Perform electrical design improvements to upgrade facilities’ electrical distribution systems to meet sustainability goals and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Solutions Sales to qualify customer needs and energy solutions.
  • Meet customers on-site and review their needs; provide engineering cost estimates and bid proposals.
  • Ensure engineering work adheres to applicable codes and standards and provide technical support and quality control.
  • Manage project timelines and maintain long-term customer relationships; travel to various Canadian locations.

Job description

Execute electrical power system network analysis, perform electrical engineering design of projects and provide solution-based engineering proposals under the supervision of a senior engineer.

Responsibilities
  • Perform power system engineering analysis of industrial and commercial electric power systems in the areas of coordination of protection, short-circuit calculation, arc-flash hazard analysis, power flow, power quality, site audits, design improvements of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, and product application;
  • Evaluate analysis results and prepare written report of findings, recommendations, and mitigation solutions;
  • Perform electrical design improvements primarily to support upgrades of facilities’electrical distribution system in conjunction with the customers’ needs, specifically to meet sustainability goals (microgrids) and improve system safety and reliability;
  • Work with Solutions Sales team and potential customers to help qualifying customer needs, and potential energy solutions;
  • Meet customers on-site and review and identify their needs;
  • Provide Engineering cost estimates and bid proposals;
  • Utilize Engineering skills and applicable codes and standards to implement electrical systems that are safe, reliable, and economical;
  • Providetechnical supportand quality control for assigned projects;
  • Manageproject timeline commitments tocustomers and ensure long-term relationships;
  • Available to travel to various customer locations in Canada
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Graduate of Electrical Engineering Program
  • Experience in power engineering studies or electrical design experience in commercial or industrial projects is an asset
  • Knowledge of a power system analysis software (PTW from SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, CYME) is considered an asset, preferable ETAP;
  • Bilingual is an asset;
  • Must have strong communications skills to effectively communicate with customers, sales reps, and other technical support and inside staff.

The expected pay range is CAD 64,000 - CAD 96,000 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives.
