Job summary

Emera Inc. is hiring a Power Engineer for the Nova Scotia Power, Port Hawkesbury Biomass site. The role covers safe operation of high‑pressure boiler/turbine units and all related equipment, reporting to the Shift Supervisor.

You’ll work within the NSPI/IBEW agreement, participate in training, and may travel across the province as needed. Candidates should have a 2nd Class Power Engineer certificate and at least 3 years’ experience in a similar setting, with strong teamwork and problem‑solving

Qualifications

• 2nd Class Power Engineer certificate required.
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Power Engineer in a generating station or similar process.
• Ability to demonstrate color vision for control monitoring equipment.
• Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and adaptability to changing schedules.
• Proven computer aptitude and multi-tasking ability.

Responsibilities

• Operate the high‑pressure boiler/turbine unit(s) and associated equipment safely and cost‑effectively.
• Ensure compliance with NSPI/IBEW collective agreement, NERC/NPCC reliability standards.
• Participate in competency and regulatory training; support on‑the‑job training.
• Respond to call‑outs within 60 minutes of HQ; support ISO 14001 environmental initiatives.
