We are looking for a 4th Class Power Engineer with previous refrigeration experience to assist at the West Plant. Specifically, assist with mechanical other supporting systems; perform structured inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on plant equipment and other systems.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operation of a Refrigeration Plant, managing daily plant start-up and shutdown procedures, conducting routine rounds.
• Continuously monitor temperatures, pressures and production rates, adjusting process limits and set points within HMI to reduce plant outages.
• Monitor and maintain screw and reciprocating compressors, evaporators and condensers.
• Monitor and adjust oil recovery equipment throughout plant.
• Maintain and inspect chain-driven rake and hoist system.
• Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot and repair various equipment, including but not limited to; electric motors, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, pumps, reamers, solenoid valves, auger and conveyors.
• Coordinate with the batch plant operator to align ice plant production, ensuring that efficient product availability for the day.
• Conduct daily plant checks and complete the associated paperwork.
• Carry out weekly corrective and preventive maintenance on industrial flake ice equipment to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
• Operate Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems, limit switches, and other safety devices in accordance with existing procedures and government regulations.
• De-energize equipment and perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure the safety of all operators.
• Manage and maintain the cooling tower, water softeners, and Reverse Osmosis units, ensuring their optimal functionality.
• Execute tasks in accordance with plant safety protocols, housekeeping standards, and quality checks.

Qualifications:

• Must have a valid drivers license and clean abstract.
• Working Knowledge of pressure / Temperature charts for R-404a and understanding phase change of water in relation to refrigerant considered an asset.
• Demonstrated mechanical and troubleshooting expertise with refrigeration systems
• Proficient in reading P&ID diagrams for refrigeration equipment.
• Previous experience working at a concrete batch plant or in a similar role is an asset.
• Willing and able to work varying shifts (days, afternoons and midnights), overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) license or other trades with equivalent experience is an asset.
• Outstanding work ethic with exceptional discipline, attendance, and safety record.
• Willingness to take initiative and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• High energy and initiative, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Hours of Work:
Monday through Friday, some Saturday work may be required. Start and end times may vary. Overtime will be required at times.
