Job summary

University of Guelph seeks a Livestock Agricultural Assistant to oversee poultry flock care, hatchery operations, and an equine herd. The role emphasizes precise data collection, adherence to animal care protocols, and strict biosecurity.

Qualifications

• Two-year Associate Diploma in Agriculture plus ~1 year relevant poultry or equine experience or equivalent.
• Strong ability to maintain accurate data records and operate computerized livestock management programs.
• First Aid/CPR certifications and Forklift certification are highly preferred; rabies vaccination may be required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily care, husbandry and management of poultry flock and hatchery; collect data and ensure biosecurity.
• Manage a herd of 50–80 horses/ponies; monitor health and administer vaccinations, AI, foaling support.
• Operate farm equipment (tractors, skid steers, forklifts, trailers); maintain records.
