Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Calgary is seeking a Unit Clerk for the Foothills Medical Centre, Unit 52 Postpartum, to support the postpartum unit with clerical, receptionist and booking duties and to facilitate communication among nursing staff, patients and families.

The role requires Grade 12 or equivalent and completion of a Unit Clerk course, with the ability to work 12-hour shifts. Prior postpartum or hospital experience is preferred. Shifts include nights and weekends with rotation.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
• Must be able to work 12hr shifts.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate efficient flow of communication among nursing staff, other health disciplines, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality.
• Perform reception, greeting and directing visitors and staff, maintain patient records and charts, transcribe and process physician orders, and schedule patient tests/treatments.
• Support a range of administrative activities to assist the unit's operations.
• Work under limited supervision to contribute to the smooth operation of the postpartum unit.
