RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

We are looking for an experienced qualitative researcher with excellent communication skills to lead a project entitled “Resilient Kidney Care Systems: Reducing Vulnerability to Climate Change and Disasters in Canada.”

Natural and human-caused disasters have increased in scope and frequency and people living with kidney diseases are uniquely vulnerable. Our background work has highlighted gaps in disaster preparedness in the kidney community and we have developed a framework in disaster risk reduction and management. We now want to operationalize this framework.

The project will entail conducting a vulnerability and adaptation assessment of existing kidney care systems, obtaining input from all stakeholders, and helping conduct a consensus conference. The majority of the work will be conducted virtually.

ROLE:

The student's role will be leading all aspects of this work and they will be supported by a research assistant and a lab assistant or Master’s student.

General Duties

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to designing the study, ethics approval, recruitment, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation, and knowledge dissemination. They will collaborate with investigators from across Canada and several international participating centers and will be supported by our team. They will be expected to submit abstracts to relevant congresses and institutional seminars.
