Job summary

Sagard, through Portage, is seeking an undergraduate Portfolio & Market Intelligence Analyst Intern in Toronto. You will support fintech investments, analyze portfolios, and assist with research and data visualizations.

The role offers a hybrid work setup at our downtown Toronto office, with an 8-month term beginning January 2027. Responsibilities include assisting investment operations, compiling data, preparing decks, and delivering insights to senior management.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; preferably STEM, Commerce, or business related fields.
• Strong academic record and interest in financial services and technology.
• Able to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with changing priorities.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to synthesize and present insights.

Responsibilities

• Assist investment operations by collaborating with business and investment teams to identify issues and solutions.
• Conduct portfolio and fund analysis, organize data from portfolio companies.

Position Overview

Portage is currently looking for an individual who is highly analytical and deeply passionate about fintech to join our team in Toronto as a Portfolio & Market Intelligence Analyst Intern. This person will play a pivotal role in supporting our team to find and support transformative, breakthrough companies in financial services. Portage offers a hybrid working environment at our downtown Toronto office. This position is hiring on a rolling basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist in investment operations by working with the business team and investment team to identify pain points and research potential solutions alongside our engineering team;


• Conduct portfolio and fund analysis and monitoring through collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from our portfolio companies;


• Assist in research and presentation writing, including analyzing data, visualizing data, and writing/designing decks;


• Provide ad-hoc analytical and strategic support to senior management, as needed.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; preferably in STEM, Commerce, or business related fields;


• Strong academic record;


• A strong passion and /or interest in financial services and technology;


• Comfortable with ambiguity and in an entrepreneurial environment where things change constantly;


• Organized with a close attention to detail;


• Team player – collaborate and willing to take on whatever is needed to support the team;


• Ability to attentively review, assess, and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner;


• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to synthesize and articulate thoughts about companies and markets concisely;


• Knowledge and familiarity with data manipulation and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills;


• Must be authorized to work in Canada.
