Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority in Western Zone, Valley Regional Hospital, is seeking a Porter to provide safe transportation of patients, medications, lab specimens, equipment and charts. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Porter will support efficient patient flow and be part of the FMS Porter Services VRH team; the role is permanent full-time, 75 hours biweekly.

Candidates should have Grade 12, healthcare experience preferred, strong communication and confidentiality, and willingness to

Qualifications

  • Grade 12/GED required
  • Previous healthcare work experience required; portering experience an asset
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, families other health care providers and staff sensitivity and confidentiality in a respectful and caring manner
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt and prioritize required
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a team environment as well as the ability to work independently is required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patients, staff, and the district is required
  • Current WHMIS certification is required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

About the Opportunity

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:



  • Grade 12/GED required

  • Previous healthcare work experience required; portering experience an asset

Compensation and Benefits

$21.68 - $22.94
