Job summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking a Policy Advisor to support transformation of Alberta's continuing care system. This full-time permanent role, based in Calgary or Edmonton, offers a 36.25-hour work week and responsibilities spanning policy development, research, and stakeholder engagement.

You will lead policy initiatives, produce strategic briefs for senior leadership, and collaborate with health system partners to improve resident outcomes and system performance.

Qualifications

  • University degree in health, health administration or social science plus 2 years related experience, or equivalent.
  • Equivalency: education may substitute for experience and vice versa.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze information, and communicate issues clearly in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of continuing care policies, programs, and strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct research, jurisdictional and environmental scans, and data analysis to inform directions or decisions.
  • Integrate continuing care perspectives into policy developments with systems thinking.
  • Prepare briefing notes, reports, and strategic advice for senior leadership and government decision-makers.
  • Manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and timely delivery of initiatives.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with health system partners and stakeholders.
  • Monitor system performance and quality indicators for continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic advice on sensitive issues to diverse audiences.
  • Lead or support stakeholder engagement and translate feedback into policy recommendations.
  • Promote innovative, sustainable solutions to enhance quality and outcomes.
