The CPS officers are responsible for a multitude of responsibilities including (but not limited to) enforcing laws, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, attending court, maintaining public order, providing assistance where needed all while building positive relationships with community members to foster trust and cooperation.

Qualifications:

  • Age: At least 18 years of age.
  • Education: Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required; ECA for education obtained outside Canada.
  • Driving History: Class 5 non-GDL licence with no more than five demerit points.
  • Enhanced Security Clearance (ESC): Ability to pass a CPS conducted ESC.
  • Obtaining an ESC can be challenging if you have not lived in Canada or the United States of America for a minimum of three years (depending on residency).
  • Criminal Activity: No criminal activity within the last three years both detected and undetected.
  • Physical Fitness: Must meet physical fitness standards; ability to handle physically demanding situations.
  • Communication Skills: Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of making sound decisions under pressure.
  • Integrity: High ethical standards and a commitment to upholding the law impartially and with integrity.
