Job summary

Richmond School District No. 38 is seeking a full-time, permanent Plumber to join its Facilities Services department to install, upgrade and repair plumbing systems across 53 facilities at the journeyperson level.

The ideal candidate will hold a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing (T.Q.) and a BC Certificate of Apprenticeship, with two years of journeyperson experience in commercial or institutional settings, and a valid Class 5 BC driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Two years' journeyperson experience in commercial or institutional service work.
  • BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing (T.Q.) and a BC Certificate of Apprenticeship.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, upgrading, repairing, and testing plumbing components, equipment, and systems across district facilities.
  • Responding to plumbing and piping emergencies throughout the district facilities.
  • Develops plans, sketches, and drawings for job layouts, permits, and estimates.
  • Provides technical advice to District staff as required.
  • Operates a district vehicle and maintains vehicle electrical equipment and inventory.
  • Performs other duties of comparable importance as required.

PLUMBER (Permanent)

We are currently looking for a full-time, permanent Plumber to join our Facilities Services department to perform plumbing install, upgrading and repair at the journeyperson level across the district's 53 facilities.

Major Duties And Responsibilities
  • Installing, upgrading, repairing, and testing plumbing components, equipment, and systems such as sanitary, storm, potable, natural gas, propane, compressed air and sprinkler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Responding to plumbing and piping emergencies throughout the district facilities.
  • Develops manual plans, sketches, and drawings for the purpose of job layouts, permit applications, and estimating time and materials required to complete the work.
  • Provides technical advice and information to District staff as required.
  • Operating a district vehicle and maintaining the vehicle's electrical equipment and materials inventory as necessary.
  • Performs other job-related duties of comparable importance, difficulty and responsibility as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Grade 12 or equivalent plus a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Apprenticeship in Plumbing or equivalent apprenticeship training and a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing (T.Q.);
  • Two (2) years' experience at a Journeyperson level in commercial or institutional service work, including maintenance, repair, and installation of commercial and industrial equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of current techniques, methods, procedures, and equipment applicable to the plumbing trade.
  • Ability to organize workload, work under periodic pressure and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.

This is a unionized position that offers a 40-hour work week with an hourly wage rate of $40.75, plus a liberal benefit package including:
