Detailed Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Plant Services, performs skilled plumbing work at the journeyman level, including testing, installation, alteration, and repair of plumbing systems, natural gas piping, appliances, and accessories. Also, performs maintenance and repair functions on building systems, emergency power, and related equipment.

Responsibilities
  1. Reviews work requests, interprets blueprints, and estimates project costs.
  2. Prepares for projects by scheduling and assembling supplies.
  3. Installs, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs plumbing and gas systems, appliances, and accessories.
  4. Performs scheduled and demand maintenance on building systems and equipment.
  5. Repairs plumbing fixtures and maintains domestic water systems.
  6. Maintains building fabric, including walls, ceilings, and floors.
  7. Logs activities and maintains documentation.
  8. Manages inventory and recommends purchases.
  9. Operates and tests emergency systems.
  10. Liaises with contractors and reviews drawings.
  11. Performs snow and ice removal for safety.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience

Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Plumber, Class B Gas Fitter's License with electrical endorsement recognized by BC, and a Cross Connection Control Specialist Certificate. Two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
