Detailed Overview

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, performs skilled electrical work at the journeyman level in the testing, installation, alteration, and repair of electrical systems. Performs a variety of maintenance and repair functions with respect to scheduled and demand maintenance of electrical, architectural, and mechanical equipment on buildings and equipment. Performs operational maintenance repair duties related to building systems, emergency power, and other related equipment of the facility.

Responsibilities

1. Reviews work requests and consults with user departments regarding specifications and other project requirements, interprets blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the materials and equipment required, calculates materials and labor in estimating cost of projects, and makes recommendations as required.
2. Prepares for work projects by arranging work schedule with user departments and assembling supplies, tools, and equipment.
3. Installs, troubleshoots, maintains, modifies, monitors, inspects, tests, repairs, and replaces electrical systems, circuits, and accessories in accordance with applicable codes.
4. Performs scheduled and demand maintenance on building installations, electrical and mechanical repairs on buildings, equipment, and appliances.
5. Maintains and repairs plumbing fixtures and adjusts all domestic water systems and related equipment.
6. Maintains, constructs, and repairs building fabric such as walls, roofs, doors, and windows.
7. Maintains relative preventative maintenance program inspection reports, records, and documentation.
8. Maintains an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools, completes related reports and records.
9. Operates and assures readiness at all times of the building emergency systems.
10. Monitors electrical meters, records consumption and power factor, and completes related reports.
11. Liaises with consultants and contractors, reviews drawings and specifications.
12. Performs emergency removal of snow and ice from entrances, walkways, and service driveways.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Grade 10 plus two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Electrician recognized by the Province of B.C.
