Job summary

Trotter & Morton Group of Companies is seeking Journeyperson plumbers and recognized apprentices to join its team on various construction sites in British Columbia. You will read blueprints, install and maintain domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing systems, locate pipe positions, and ensure quality workmanship.

We offer UA170 union sponsorship, safety training, competitive wages around $50.46/hour, and opportunities for career advancement in a leading contractor.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in commercial construction is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to lay out plumbing system and fixtures.
  • Install, repair and maintain domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems.
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors.
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines.
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
  • Assist with material handling and maintain a clean site.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety programs and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Trotter and Morton's Mechanical Division is a UA170 registered division. All plumbers, with the assistance and sponsorship of Trotter and Morton will be required to become UA 170 union members. We are looking for qualified Journeypeople and recognized accredited apprentices to join the team, advantage priority will go to current 170 members.

Compensation: $50.46 per hour based on union wage.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
  • Install, repair and maintain domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
  • Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
  • Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
  • Assist with material handling
  • Maintain clean working area at all times, perform housekeeping duties on site
  • Ensure full compliance with Trotter & Morton Safety programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Work at various construction sites and projects within British Columbia

  • Physical stamina required to:
    • use proper lifting techniques for heavy pipes weighing in excess of 25 kilograms
    • be on your feet for long periods
    • sometimes work in cramped positions
Required Experience
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Experience in commercial construction is an asset
