Job description

Responsible for performing planned and breakdown maintenance, repair, and installations of stationery equipment or facilities, ensuring all work is completed safely, environmentally friendly, and cost-effectively according to established trade requirements.

Responsibilities and Performance Standards

1. Perform maintenance, repairs, and installations based on work orders, standard operating procedures, and relevant legislation.
2. Safely troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, completing work within planned timeframes without compromising equipment or facility integrity.
3. Document maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics in the database with sufficient detail before shift end.
4. Assist in commissioning new installations and modifications, ensuring thorough testing before operation.
5. Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment continuously.
6. Ensure tools are maintained according to manufacturer specifications and report unsafe conditions immediately.
7. Participate in safety meetings, incident investigations, and design reviews to uphold safety standards.
8. Support apprentice development by delegating tasks to enhance their skills and meet apprenticeship requirements.
9. Provide trade and non-trade assistance to colleagues and perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements

• Gas Fitter Class A certification as defined by Alberta Apprenticeship & Industry Training, or an equivalent recognized trade certificate or Alberta equivalency document, is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Extensive relevant experience in coal processing plants and surface coal mining environments preferred.
• Safety-oriented with basic first aid knowledge.

Physical Requirements

• Handle loads up to 20 kg.
• Sit and concentrate for over 60 minutes.
• Operate a vehicle with a Class 5 license.

Work is at CST Mine Site on a 10-hour, 4-day on/3-day off day shift schedule, with possible night shifts, overtime, and call-outs. Work involves indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to physical hazards, noise, and potentially dangerous substances. Personal protective equipment is mandatory, and compliance with drug and alcohol policies is required.

Wages and Benefits

• Residence in Grande Cache is required during work rotation; no camp provided.
• 7 and 7 rotation schedule.
• Hourly wage: $52.13, with membership dues for UMWA.
• Additional allowances: $600/year for boots/clothing, $1500/year for tools, $600/month Trades Allowance, $500/month Living Allowance, and $500/year Fitness Allowance.
• Medical benefits commence the month after employment begins.
