Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking a licensed plumber to maintain critical hospital plumbing systems and support patient care. You will work on healthcare-specific fixtures, respond to service calls, and document activities while collaborating with facilities management and clinical staff.

Qualifications

  • Ontario Plumber's License required.
  • High school diploma required.
  • 2 years of working knowledge in plumbing principals, pipe specification codes and operation of equipment.
  • 2 years of experience in a related role.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, install, repair and replace pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain heating, water, gas and drainage systems.
  • Repair and maintain healthcare-related plumbing fixtures such as bed pan flushers.
  • Diagnose and repair plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs and system malfunctions.
  • Respond to service calls and emergencies promptly, minimizing disruption to operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance and address potential issues before they become problems.
  • Accurately document repairs, installations and maintenance in CMMS.
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification.

About our Plumbing Team

The plumbing team at Mount Sinai Hospital plays a pivotal role in maintaining the health and safety of both patients and staff by ensuring that all plumbing systems operate effectively. Focusing on plumbing maintenance that supports the day-to-day needs of the hospital, we manage vital systems including medical air lines, sterilization equipment, and specialized health and safety equipment. Responsible for over 420 beds, numerous clinics, public bathrooms, and mechanical rooms, our work is crucial in supporting the hospital’s daily operations and directly contributes to patient care. We are integral to the hospital’s ability to provide top-tier medical services, ensuring a safe and functional environment for everyone within the facility.

In this role you will:

  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance, and identify and address potential issues before they become problems
  • Accurately document all repairs, installations, and maintenance activities within our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required
Job Requirements:
  • Ontario Plumber's License
  • Successful completion of a high school diploma
  • 2yearsofworking knowledge in plumbing principals, pipe specification codes and principals of operation application of equipment
  • 2 years of experience in a related role
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to read plumbing schematic drawings and upgrades
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to keyboard and have basic computer skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
