Job summary

Canadian Base Operators Inc is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - Plumber to maintain water distribution systems and installed heating and plumbing systems. This role follows the collective agreement for compensation.

Key duties include preventive maintenance, repairs of domestic plumbing and heating systems, water testing, and coordinating material orders. A valid G driver's license and security clearance ability are required; ECRA/ESA Licence #7016418 noted.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of plumbing experience in a commercial setting.
• Proficient understanding of domestic plumbing and heating systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documents.
• Valid G driver’s license; ability to obtain Level II security clearance.
• ECRA/ESA Licence #7016418.

Responsibilities

• Carries out preventive maintenance inspections and tasks generated by the maintenance management system.
• Maintains and repairs domestic plumbing and hot water heating systems including fixtures and DWV systems.
• Conducts daily water tests and ensures correct water chemistry for boiler systems.
• Orders consumables and materials for preventive, periodic and corrective maintenance.
• Assists with estimates for installation, repair and replacement of plumbing and heating systems.
• Installs new components in accordance with drawings and OEM recommendations.
• Assists in the maintenance of domestic heating systems.
• Assists other trades as required.
• Inspects subcontractors’ work and corrects minor deficiencies within scope.
• Performs other duties as required within capabilities.

The Maintenance Mechanic -Plumber is responsible the maintenance of the water distribution system, maintenance and installation of domestic plumbing and heating systems and water softening equipment. This position is paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carries out preventive maintenance inspections and tasks generated by the maintenance management system.
• Maintains and repairs domestic plumbing and hot water heating systems including fixtures, traps, electric hot water heaters, Drain Waste Vent (DWV) systems, airlines and compressors.
• Conducts daily water tests and ensuring correct water chemistry for boiler systems.
• Orders consumables and material for preventive, periodic and corrective maintenance.
• Assists with estimates for installation, repair and replacement of plumbing and heating systems.
• Installs new components in accordance with working drawings and OEM recommendations.
• Assists in the maintenance of domestic heating systems.
• Assists other trades as required.
• Inspects the work of related subcontractors. Corrects minor deficiencies in any trade or specialty within their ability.
• Other duties as required within the capabilities of the individual.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Degree or Diploma in:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Plumbing

The following certifications/designations are considered a requirement:

• Red Seal (Plumbing) Certification OR Ontario 306A
• Gas Fitter (G2)
  • Backflow certification would be considered an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years of plumbing experience in a commercial setting
• Utilities/Construction/FMO/Service/Projects

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

• Understand technical documents and drawings
• Organization and time management

Proficient user of:

• Must have a valid G driver’s license
• Must be have or be able to receive and maintain a Level II security clearance with the Government of Canada.
