QualityAI is seeking a Playwright Automation QA Lead to drive automation strategy from Canada (remote). You will lead QA initiatives across Agile teams and mentor engineers to raise the bar in test coverage and reliability.

You will design scalable Playwright-based frameworks, integrate tests into CI/CD, and collaborate with product and development teams to deliver quality across complex AI-driven systems. This role offers remote work within Canada and opportunities for global impact.

We are seeking an Automation Lead to join our growing team.

Role: Playwright Automation QA Lead

Location: Canada (Remote)

What You'll Do

• Lead Quality Engineering and automation initiatives across Agile teams.
• Partner with Product Owners, Developers, Engineering Managers, and Scrum teams to define QA strategies and automation roadmaps.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks, with a strong focus on Playwright.
• Lead and mentor QA engineers while establishing automation standards and best practices.
• Develop and execute automated tests for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
• Communicate project status, remove blockers, and maintain QA documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement in test automation, framework design, and quality processes.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience leading Automation QA or Quality Engineering teams.
• Hands‑on experience with Playwright using TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or Python.
• Strong experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks.
• Experience with keyword‑driven, data‑driven, hybrid, and BDD automation frameworks.
• Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and mentor team members.

Nice to Have

• Experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
• Experience with API testing and modern automation practices.
• Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD tools.
• Experience providing QA consulting or leading automation transformation initiatives.

Interview Process

Candidates should be prepared for a live coding exercise during technical interviews (L1 and L2).
